Literacy Volunteers of New Jersey (LVNJ)

Literacy Volunteers of New Jersey is a NJ organization committed to teaching basic literacy skills to adults, who are either illiterate or speak English as a Second Language (ESL).  The classes are offered at no cost to the students.

STUDENTS:
Students can "learn to use survival skills, improve their job prospects, attend higher education classes, and become responsible citizens."

VOLUNTEERS:

Volunteers are trained in techniques for teaching Reading and ESL. Volunteers can teach 1 1/2 to 2 hours per week. Visit www.lvnj.org and learn about volunteer opportunities in your local community.

The only requirement is that “you must want to make a difference in someone's life.”
